The Independent Liberal Party - that's the name of Jack Warner's newly-formed political party.

According to a close Advisor of Mr. Warner, the party symbol will be the letters of the party's name, ILP, with a sugar cane stalk and an oil jack. The colour to be used is green.

By 6pm on Friday, green flags bearing the ILP symbol were hoisted at Pierre Road Recreation Ground where he hosted his first meeting under the ILP. Scores of supporters attended the meeting.

There's no word yet on whether a constitution has already been drafted and who may be the other key members of the party.

C News was told Mr. Warner has been holding discussions with a number of people to get their views and look at his options.

Mr. Warner, the former UNC Chairman and Chaguanas West MP, is planning to contest the bye-election for the constituency on July 29th.
