Kamla Persad-Bissessar says nothing will keep her down
Sunday 7th February, 2010
New Political Leader of the United National Congress, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, says nothing will keep her down or away from the people she has been elected to serve.
Mrs. Persad Bissessar says the fight for change is still a main priority in the party.
The new leader made a statement at a victory celebration in her honour on Saturday night at the Rienzi Complex in Couva.
The new leader openly thanked Minister of Education, Esther Le Gendre, for rushing to her aid as she fell in Parliament last Friday.
Dressed in the party's colours and wearing an arm sling she said her recent injury is only a temporary setback in her new leadership career.
Then it was down to business, Mrs. Persad Bissessar kept her focus. She said lessons have clearly been learnt from the Patrick Manning led administration and that it cannot be given any more chances to perform.
Because of the people in this country she said the political landscape has changed forever.
In return she said the needs of the people will be met and that through change, the UNC will fight for what is right in Trinidad and Tobago.
